HOBART TO COME ALIVE IN RAINBOW OF COLOUR AND MUSIC FOR EQUALITY WEEKEND

  • October 19, 2017

As the marriage equality survey reaches its final stages, Hobart will this weekend (Friday 20 – Sunday 22 October) host a kaleidoscope of colour and music in a bid to get remaining “Yes” voters to the post box.

Yarnbomb “knit ins”, rainbow chalkings and a giant post box will all feature in Hobart to celebrate Equality Weekend, which will see “Yes” campaign events take place across the country.

The highlight event in Hobart will be a gig at Hotel SOHO on Saturday night – Tas Musos for Marriage Equality. Popular Tasmanian punk rock band Luca Brasi will headline the event with an acoustic set, supported by Tasmanian artists Pat Broxton of The Sleepyheads and Kat Edwards.

Tasmanians United for Marriage Equality Spokesperson, Rodney Croome, said the campaign was reaching the critical final stages.

“We will be campaigning right to the very end to get as many Tasmanian Yes voters to the post box as we possibly can.

“It’s crucial that the result is clear cut and unequivocal. We need to send a message to politicians that Australians want marriage equality and we will not tolerate any more political games with the fundamental rights of LGBTQI people.”
